RReleased earlier this year, Staring Lenses by This is Head is a musical dream for your ears. I was introduced to their music by the lovely friend Tina from Sweden. It was one of the first on her long list, and I must say I love it!

My Ode to Nina Persson

So I am going to do something I normally steer clear of(other than Throwback Thursday, cause that's fun), this is the new thing I found out from seeing my cousin post pictures of girls with the hashtag "wcw" which means Woman Crush Wednesday. Now my crush isn't necessarily based on physical beauty(though she is gorgeous), it's more based on admiration. Nina Persson has been in my life since I was just a wee lil lass growing up in La Puente, CA. Now let's move away from that. What I am going to do today is feature all my favorite songs that Nina has been a part of into one blog. If you are confused, just message me and I'll be your guide. Now a break from the Cardigans, I present to you another one of Nina's projects A Camp. I have called this song my theme song. Here is Frequent Flyer.

I know every girl can relate this next song. Another one of my all time favorite songs, I use to sing this to my ex all the time. Jerk! But never mind him. Off my favorite Cardigans album Long Gone Before Daylight. Here is For What It's Worth...

Now I've either started sounding like Casey Casem doing a radio show, annoyed you to pieces, or have brought on sadness as we have reached the last Cardigans Album. Please please release another…But off of Super Extra Gravity a song that has hit me quite recently, Losing A Friend.

I am going to squeeze in a song featuring the lovely Nina by the Manic Street Preachers. Out of all the songs she's collaborated on this is one of my favorites.

And right when you think no more Nina, 2009 comes along and A Camp comes back with a second album. I remember the first time I got to see Nina live was with A Camp at the Troubadour with my lovely bro and his friend Christopher(a fellow Swede lover) I remember hearing this song live, and claiming it. Yeah I have a lot of favorite songs. Get over it. But here is possibly one of the most beautifully written songs to ever grace our ears. I always imagined this song being put to a movie or on stage cause its just so pretty. Off Colonia, here is Golden Teeth and Silver Medals.

And now we fast forward to 2014, Nina has many projects under her belt but this is her first Solo album. And what can I say, I fall in admiration of her more and more every time I listen to the album. The tough task on this one was finding what song was my favorite song. So I was between Clip Your Wings, Silver and Forgot to Tell You. I wanted to wait cause she had given a teaser for Clip Your Wings, but instead I have decided that the one song I can't get enough of is Silver(I also couldn't find a good video version of Forgot to Tell You). So here it is...

I don't want this journey to end, but since it has to end. I will end and close with a cover. I wonder what Brenda would think about this version of R.E.M's Losing my Religion. Would she play it on repeat like I have…Hmmm?

And with that the journey through Nina's career has to stop. But that does not mean you shouldn't go out and purchase all Cardigans, A Camp and her solo work. I highly recommend it and you won't regret it. And lastly Nina if you ever stumble upon this, I love you for writing so many songs that have molded the soundtrack of my life, healed my broken heart, and gave me hope in love. You are a genius!

Alpaca Sports - Just like Johnny Marr

Another great one from the label Luxury Records. I absolutely love this poppy goodness, which I personally think is better than Johnny Marr's solo work. Not that the reference affects my impression of the song cause I absolutely adore it. Twee popping my body to its rhythm. As you know, I must also comment on how damn good looking this poppy duo is. Take me back to Sweden now!

Sumie - Midnight Glories

This beautiful melody and relaxing vocals can put you into a lovely slumber. Sumie is amazing and you should open your ears and let her enchant you.

Beatrice Eli - Girls

Fun Fun Fun! That's how I describe this song. Poppy fun, straight forward lyrics. And though I'm not into girls, this song is stuck in my head. I keep singing the chorus over and over again.

Moto Boy - Someday

Something about the look in his eyes entrances me. Off his recent album, "Someday" is a romantic melody that pulls you in. The video focuses on his beautiful face, which I really don't mind.

Postiljonen - All That We Had Is Lost

Based out of Stockholm, Postiljonen is a trio of dream poppy loveliness. I feel like I'm cheating her because the beautiful vocals are provided by the lovely yet Norwegian Mia Bøe. But since 2/3rd of the band are Swedish, I feel alright! I give them props for incorporating parts of Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know?" Let their music take you away into a day dream of forest frolicking and chasing your loved one into a field of flowers touched with morning dew.

Cardigans - My Favourite Game

It's Throwback Thursday again and why not feature one of my favorite bands, The Cardigans. I don't know how many times I've blasted this song because of some idiot guy. Love this song!

Ji Nilsson and Marlene - Love You Anyway

I know I featured Marlene on Monday, but I couldn't resist to post this wonderful song about friendship. It features her with the amazing Ji Nilsson. I can just imagine if I was an interpretative dancer, all the interpretive dancing I would do to this song. I've been listening to it on repeat!

The Sun Days - Don't need to be them

So in high school one of my favorite bands was The Sundays. Well now out of Sweden we have the Sun Days, and I think I love them as much as I love The Sundays. They are yet another fantastic band to come off Luxury Records. I heard this song and I started bopping my head and swaying my body. Happy dancey music time!

Luha – Lullaby

So I'm hung over and tired, but I don't want to miss a post so today I will present to you, Luha! Love her voice, love this song. I really don't know what else to say about her because she's so secretive. Her song "Lullaby" makes me want to go into a state of dream poppy satisfaction.

The Mary Onettes - Your Place

My favorite of their new album Portico. I am super bummed that I will have to miss their show on May 3rd. I love that this band is from Jönköping. The lovely Swedish town I celebrated New Years in this year. If you love dream pop but are tired of all the similar sounding female vocals check out Mary Onettes.

Call me - Disclosed

Another one from Göteborg's Luxury Records, Call me's "Disclosed" is reminiscent of the vocal stylings of the Cocteau Twins, with the back beats of The Knife. When I first clicked, I thought oh this sounds like the knife, then the vocals kicked in and I was in utter bliss. The piano within the song is just beautiful! Dreamy, absolutely dreamy,I want to go on a journey through song.

I Break Horses - You Burn

Recommended by Brother Oblivious, recommended this awesome synth pop shoegazing goodness from Stockholm.  Her voice is hauntingly beautiful. "You Burn" is featured on their album released earlier this year "Chiaroscuro"; art history term to define the contrast between light and dark. I can definitely hear it within this album as some songs make me want to get up and move and others make me want to drown into a bed full of pillows. I just found out they are playing NYC next week and will try to see them at Mercury Lounge. I have plans for their Rough Trade show but you should definitely try and check them out!

Roxette - The Look

To honor the 25th anniversary of "The Look" two days ago, I am featuring Roxette. A childhood fave of Brother Oblivious and I. I find it incredible that I haven't listened to this song in years and I still remember the lyrics. New Karaoke song? Alice Boman - What

How can a song so sad be so beautiful...more like hauntingly beautiful. That is how I would describe Alice Boman's first single off her new EP. The first time I listened, I couldn't decide if I wanted to smile or cry. I was merely captivated and I hope you are too.

Marlene - Stay Awake

American Pop and R&B singers...watch and learn. Not only is she beautiful, her voice is magnificent. I've always been a sucker for a song with a good beat! Would it be wrong to call her the Swedish Beyonce? Oh check this one out too...

Weeping Willows - (We're In) Different Places

Absolutely positively one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Brother Oblivious beat me to posting this song, so I delayed my posting by two days. It's been 7 years too long since Weeping Willows released an album and it's well worth the wait. If you like Trashcan Sinatras, let Weeping Willows grace your ears with beautiful melodies and captivating lyrics.

Those Dancing Days - I'll Be Yours

Just as their name suggests, this lil poppy song will have you dancing for days. Hailing for a suburb outside of Stockholm, Those Dancing Days is indie pop goodness. Also, while researching them I found out that they were picked personally by my favorite Belle and Sebastian to play their Bowlie Weekender festival in 2010. If they are alright by Stuart, they are alright by me! Now get ready to dance your socks off!

Tove Lo - Habits

Love love love this song. It's a great mix of indie pop and dance. She was recommended to me by my friend Tina, but I had found her the day before. I am so happy to have stumbled upon this beautiful dancey masterpiece. Her EP "Truth Serum" released on March 3rd. It features great songs like "Habits" and "Out of Mind" It's the perfect breakup music to blast! Click below to experience the greatness that is Tove Lo.

First Aid Kit - The Lion's Roar

I couldn't find a newer video so I will go with my favorite song by them. First Aid Kit is a Swedish Folk Duo with breathtaking songs that warm my ears. These two sisters are reminiscent of folks best singers and their lyrics are simply amazing. I love a good folk song that makes you feel something. Check out this beautifully composed song below.
